Established in 2015, AirTrunk opened their first data center in Sydney and has since expanded to additional APAC markets including Hong Kong and Singapore, with plans for development in Tokyo. The company builds massive, rapidly scalable, highly efficient data centers for some of the largest data center users. AirTrunk was owned by Macquarie, who acquired the company in early 2020. Recently, it was acquired by Blackstone, the world's largest alternative asset manager, in a landmark deal worth A$24 billion. This acquisition marks the largest-ever data centre deal globally and the largest transaction in Australia for 2024
